Cyber Ascend Technologies and the Dorothy Factor

by | Community, PDNC-News

Network infrastructure and cloud migrating and cybersecurity oh my!

At the end of the iconic movie The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy realizes she has all the abilities to embrace what is essential to her. What is important… is home. With three clicks of her ruby slippers, Dorothy & Toto are instantly there.

Cyber Ascend Technologies wants your IT solutions to be that easy, a few clicks your solution is there!

When it comes to the principle of “home”, we are of two minds. One is that we are the IT home base for the extended Santa Cruz County and Monterey region whether you are in Scotts Valley, Capitola, Aptos, Watsonville, Salinas, or any other nearby community. Think of us for your IT support cyber security team, facilitating Microsoft Teams phone technology, migrating you away from costly legacy systems, and preparing your business if faced with a virtual or natural disaster.

The other “home” frame of mind is our hometown, where our company and our families are—Scotts Valley.

Scotts Valley has about 13,000 people who call it home and it has been home to people for a long time. Ten thousand years ago, there was a lake in the middle of what is now Scotts Valley and the Paleo-Indians lived on its shores. About four thousand years after the lake was gone, the Ohlone people were the residents of the time. None of them had any IT services or a need to prepare for virtual disaster recovery.

Scotts Valley was purchased by Hiram Daniel Scott in 1850. In later years it became the home to some incredible venues like The Barn, where Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead played. It was the home of the big guy himself, Santa Claus, when Santa’s Village opened its gates in 1957.

They also had no IT backup, and the only clouds they knew rained them out on occasion.

Our IT Wizard is making waves in our hometown

Scotts Valley has rapidly grown over the past few decades, and we are proud of the active community participant in our founder, Phil Neuman. Phil has been a driver in enabling the city’s businesses to thrive. He’s been a long-term supporter of the city’s Chamber of Commerce and will be its President for this next year.

In naming him the position, the Chamber said

“Cyber Ascend reflects Phil’s commitment to service and the local community as it is fully geared to support Santa Cruz County’s business builders with technology on their upward path to success… A big believer in the importance of community involvement, Phil has served as a volunteer firefighter and board member and ambassador roles with Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce since 2017 and is a graduate of Leadership Santa Cruz County Class 34. He is a member of the Santa Cruz Business Builders BNI group and active with Twin Lakes Church.”

Phil outlined his vision for the Chamber with his upcoming role as its leader. “Our chamber is vibrant with information and connections, and I want to make sure members know we love to help. My focus will be to strengthen our membership and continue to find ways to make the chamber relevant to all its members and the community. I love to hear when members say that the chamber has made a big difference in their business’s success.”

“My goal is to hear that more often,” he added.

While many satisfied clients call him one, Phil is happy to leave Wizards for Dorothy and the fables of Oz.

He believes in our team working hard for our immediate community and the sister communities beyond. He is happy to empower and protect the community he loves, whether as a Chamber support participant or as an IT cyber security resource.

On this, he agrees with Dorothy, there truly is no place like home.
